چکیده
parkinsonism is used to describe a syndrome manifested by any combination of six cardinal features: tremor at rest, rigidity, bradykinesia, loss of postural reflexes, flexed posture and the freezing. decreased dopaminergic neurotransmission in the basal ganglia is the core biochemical pathology in parkinsonism. hereditary parkinsonism includes various heredodegenerative diseases such as hallervorden-spatz disease, huntingtons disease, lubag (x-linked dystonia-parkinsonism), mitochondrial cytopathies with striatal necrosis, neuroacanthocytosis and wilsons disease. in addition, both autosomal dominant and autosomal recessive forms of the parkinsons disease have been described. in this review, we will introduce these syndromes.

Vascular Parkinsonism: deconstructing a syndrome.
Progressive ambulatory impairment and abnormal white matter (WM) signal on neuroimaging come together under the diagnostic umbrella of vascular parkinsonism (VaP). A critical appraisal of the literature, however, suggests that (1) no abnormal structural imaging pattern is specific to VaP; (2) there is poor correlation between brain MRI hyperintensities and microangiopathic brain disease and par...

PURPOSE OF REVIEW This article reviews was to review genes where putative or confirmed pathogenic mutations causing Parkinson's disease or Parkinsonism have been identified since 2012, and summarizes the clinical and pathological picture of the associated disease subtypes. RECENT FINDINGS Newly reported genes for dominant Parkinson's disease are DNAJC13, CHCHD2, and TMEM230. However, the evid...
متن کاملA case of manganese induced parkinsonism in hereditary haemorrhagic telangiectasia.
A 44 year old right handed woman complained of difficulty in moving. She and her relatives had skin telangiectasia or recurrent epistaxis. On neurological examination, she had a mask-like facies and bradykinesia in both extremities. Laboratory examinations showed iron deficiency anaemia and mild liver dysfunction with raised serum manganese. On T1 weighted cranial magnetic resonance imaging the...

Four patients with a new, inherited, complex developmental deficiency syndrome were studied. The syndrome affects the central and peripheral nervous system, and also the retina, liver, bone, adipose tissue, and genital organs. Abnormalities of glycoproteins, glycopeptide hormones, and lipids have been found in serum from these patients, the most pronounced being increased cathodal forms of tran...
متن کاملParkinsonism: heterogeneity of a common neurological syndrome.
Parkinsonism refers to a neurological syndrome embracing bradykinesia, muscle rigidity, tremor at rest and impaired postural reflexes, and involving a broad differential diagnosis. Having ruled out secondary causes (most importantly drugs), distinguishing levodopa-responsive idiopathic parkinson's disease (PD) from chiefly treatment-resistant and hence atypical parkinsonism is essential. Recent...
